Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
A Disaster Recovery plan, also referred to as a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) or business contingency plan, describes how an organisation deals with possible calamities relating to ICT products and the data they may contain.
A calamity or other event could be disastrous as it interrupts the continuation of essential processes. This is why it is of paramount importance to have a Disaster Recovery Plan, or contingency plan, in place. A plan of this nature is made up of precautionary measures that are taken to minimise the consequences of a possible calamity and enables an organisation to quickly restart the most critical functions. The plan usually contains an analysis of the operational processes that must remain stable.
